Department of Computer Science was established in the year 2007, with the objective of imparting quality education in the field of Computer Science. With rapidly evolving technology and the continuous need for innovation. The department always produces quality professionals, holding important positions in Information Technology industry in India and abroad.

The Department currently offers a B.Tech in computer science intake of 120 students and Engineering, M.Tech in Computer Science intake of 18 students. The Courses offered in the department meet the requirements of both industry and research.

Department of Computer Science Engineering (AIML)

VCET offers a four-year under-graduate B.Tech course in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning which aims to develop a strong foundation by using the principles and technologies that consist of many facets of Artificial Intelligence including logic, knowledge representation, probabilistic models, and machine learning. This course is best suited for students seeking to build world-class expertise in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and emerging technologies which help to stand in the crowd and grow careers in the upcoming technological era.

The course is designed to give the students enough exposure to the variety of applications that can be built using techniques covered under this program. They shall be able to apply AI/ML methods, techniques and tools to the applications. The students shall explore the practical components of developing AI apps and platforms. Proficiency in mathematics will thrive, as this degree requires strong problem-solving and analytical skills. They shall be able to acquire the ability to design intelligent solutions for various business problems in a variety of domains and business applications. The students shall be exploring fields such as neural networks, natural language processing, robotics, deep learning, computer vision, reasoning and problem-solving. The key objective is to identify logic and reasoning methods from a computational perspective, learn about agent, search, probabilistic models, perception and cognition, and machine learning.

The rate of obsolescence of technologies also has been extremely high. Among the host of activities of the department of electronic science, the major ones are teaching, research and consultancy. The teaching program contains a proper blend of basic concepts and advances in technology. Description of Branch

Mechanical engineering is a discipline of engineering that applies the principles of physics and materials science for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. It is the branch of engineering that involves the production and usage of heat and mechanical power for the design, production, and operation of machines and tools.

The engineering field requires an understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science, structural analysis, and electricity.

The Mechanical branch at VCET established in the year 2011 with an intake of 60 students. All the labs related to mechanical engineering are well established.

Department of MBA

Master of Business Administration course was introduced in the year 2010 mainly to produce Business Administrators with thorough knowledge of dynamics of various business environments. The Department endeavors to enable the students to identify challenging problems, perceive and offer effective solutions through the core management skills acquired and judicious use of technological advancements.   

Computer Science Engineering

The M. Tech. program aims at preparing the students to take up application, research and development activities in core and some emerging areas in Computer Science, with focus on AI and AI related applications in a distributed computing environment. The program includes advanced level courses in Computer Architecture, Networking, Algorithms, Data Bases, Distributed Computing and Computational Intelligence. This program will provide a strong basis in Computer Science for those who opt for a serious career in industry. The purpose of the program is to generate human resources capable of supporting R & D activities in critical areas like automated, secured, monitoring and surveillance systems, medical diagnostics, intelligent monitoring systems etc. The diversity of platforms available for implementation and the huge volume of data available for analysis, knowledge mining activities associated with biological systems, medical field, data related to climate changes etc. attract employment opportunities.

Department of Computer Science Engineering (Data Science)

VCET offers a four-year under-graduate B.Tech course in Data Science.Data science combines math and statistics, specialized programming, advanced analytics, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning(ML) with specific subject matter expertise to uncover actionable insights hidden in an organization’s data. These insights can be used to guide decision making and strategic planning.

The data science lifecycle involves various roles, tools, and processes, which enables analysts to glean actionable insights. Typically, a data science project undergoes the following stages:

• Data ingestion: The lifecycle begins with the data collection—both raw structured and unstructured data from all relevant sources using a variety of methods. These methods can include manual entry, web scraping, and real-time streaming data from systems and devices. Data sources can include structured data, such as customer data, along with unstructured data like log files, video, audio, pictures, the Internet of Things (IoT), social media, and more.

• Data storage and data processing: Since data can have different formats and structures, companies need to consider different storage systems based on the type of data that needs to be captured. Data management teams help to set standards around data storage and structure, which facilitate workflows around analytics, machine learning and deep learning models. This stage includes cleaning data, deduplicating, transforming and combining the data using ETL (extract, transform, load) jobs or other data integration technologies. This data preparation is essential for promoting data quality before loading into a data warehouse, data lake, or other repository.

• Data analysis: Here, data scientists conduct an exploratory data analysis to examine biases, patterns, ranges, and distributions of values within the data. This data analytics exploration drives hypothesis generation for a/b testing. It also allows analysts to determine the data’s relevance for use within modeling efforts for predictive analytics, machine learning, and/or deep learning. Depending on a model’s accuracy, organizations can become reliant on these insights for business decision making, allowing them to drive more scalability.

• Communicate: Finally, insights are presented as reports and other data visualizations that make the insights—and their impact on business—easier for business analysts and other decision-makers to understand. A data science programming language such as R or Python includes components for generating visualizations; alternately, data scientists can use dedicated visualization tools.

Department of Civil Engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering was started in the academic year 2010 with an intake of 60. It is headed by Dr Joga Jayaprakash Reddy with 4 plus years of experience. The Department is endowed with well qualified experienced and dedicated faculty and committed supporting staff, students of the department are highly enthusiastic and can actively participate in various co-curricular and extracurricular.

All the laboratories of the Department are well equipped to fully satisfy the training of the students and to meet the research, consultancy requirements of the Department. The Department is conducting the seminars, workshops and conferences on the latest developments.

Department of Electrical & Elctronics Engineering

The EEE Department was established in the year 2007 with an annual intake of 60 students. The Department has the requisite number of faculty members, striving to incorporate excellence in theory and practice. The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering has a class reputation for both teaching and research work. Students and parents satisfaction is very high because we regularly conduct campus selections, and over 90% of our graduates have found relevant employment in public and private sectors within six months of leaving College.

All the teaching staff of the Department are Post-Graduates in Electrical Engineering. The Department comprises 1 Professor, 2 Associate Professors and 13 Assistant Professors. The Students of this Department are regularly exposed to the latest trends in the field of Electrical Engineering, because, we conduct Guest Lectures, Conferences, and Workshops etc., and take them for regular industrial visits. Extra experiments are being conducted for all classes apart from the regular experiments prescribed by the JNTU.

Staff members of this Department are encouraged to better their qualifications and get involved in research. The staff and students of EEE department organized the Robotics war in the two days technical fest conducted by the college. The students of the department also participated in the NSS program.

Highlights

Each lab is constructed with modern facilities. Each lab is equipped with demo experiments along with the university prescribed experiments. The motors and instruments etc., are opened and exhibited on tables in the laboratories for clear understanding of the students. In Electrical Measurements Lab, Power electronics Lab and the Networks lab each student operates on only one set-up independently. In the Power Electronics lab and Networks Lab each set-up is customized and equipped with an oscilloscope, Ac and regulated Dc power supplies, digital panel maters and bread boards. In the Control Systems Lab apart from the prescribed equipment, a highly sophisticated set-up supplied by M/s.Techtrack, futuretech is available to study the response to various up dates to the system. The DC & AC Machines Lab has been organized on the industrial pattern. These laboratories have been established with internal expertise.

Embedded Systems

Almost all Electronics, Electrical and Mechanical systems are now controlled by a controller, which is embedded as a part of the complete system. Such a system is called an Embedded System. Examples are tele-communication systems, chemical-processing plants, transportation systems such as aircrafts and automobiles, bio-medical instruments and home appliances like microwave ovens and washing machines. The characteristics of embedded systems are that they are designed to do some specific tasks often in real time satisfying certain performance requirements. It is achieved through the controllers and software called firmware stored in read only memory of the controller.

The vast majority of control systems built today are embedded, that is, they rely on builtin, special-purpose microcontrollers (digital computers) to close their feedback loops. Some systems may contain large number of controllers. In such settings, controllers often use shared networks to communicate with each other and with large numbers of sensors and actuators scattered throughout the system. The design of embedded controllers and the intricate, automated communication networks that support them raises many new problems- theoretical and practical about network protocols, compatibility of operating systems, and ways to maximize the effectiveness of the embedded hardware. This course will address many such questions and aspects of embedded and networked control.
